The existing campus of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Myyrmäki, Finland was expanded with a new campus building. The modern campus building contained a number of facilities, from teaching facilities in technical areas to a library and canteen. Rockfon was responsible for the acoustic solutions for all facilities. The large and modern site required an effective acoustic solution.

The expansion of the Myyrmäki campus will be built on four floors and covers an area of more than 10,000 m2.

Light, acoustics and glass roof in the new canteen

The campus canteen also got the larger space it needed from the new building. The lobby and dining room of the new campus building is the heart of the new building, whose spacious and airy spaces are filled with natural light. The edge of the rim is a glass stack through which daylight is filtered through all seasons.

Especially in the canteen good acoustics are of great importance. During the most important break of the day, students and staff need to be able to have a restorative moment that would not succeed in a noisy and therefore stressful environment.

A matt acoustic board was chosen for the ceiling

Modern and spacious architecture requires a functional acoustic solution. The Rockfon Color-all acoustic panel was chosen to soften the sound environment of the students.

Rockfon Color-all is a flat and matte acoustic board with a smooth, coloured fleece surface. A harmonious and calm shade of Mercury was chosen for the ceiling of the Myyrmäki campus. Rockfon Color all panels have a total of 34 colour options.

In addition to their sound-absorbing properties, the boards withstand very well in changing humidity conditions and do not deform when the relative humidity is high.
